Last week, I unexpectedly hit a wall with my writing on Substack. It had never happened before, and it terrified me. I’ve spent the week writing myself out of the corner I found myself in, refocusing and rethinking goals and priorities.
Going forward, I’ve decided to continue publishing my fiction serially once a week. I intend to make some changes to my newsletter in terms of navigation and organization, which will involve much backtracking. I’ve asked for help with that work, as I don’t want readers to get an email as I reorganize already-published material using sections.
I realize posting my fiction in tandem with a newsletter is not meeting my needs or my goals, so I’m stopping the newsletter for now. I want to build both an audience for my work and a community around my world-building; my current plan for accomplishing those goals is not effective. It’s time to reduce and simplify.
